The MG EX257 in 2001/2

The MG EX257, designed in-house by a Lola Cars and powered by an AER-developed two-litre turbo-charged MG Rover engine, had its shakedown test in May 2001 before heading off to test and then race at the famous Le Mans 24 Hours race.  Le Mans is the ultimate challenge in sportscar racing and CMS were selected to test and run the car, as in 2002.

The 2001 Le Mans event marked MG's return to international motor racing. The marque was last officially represented at the French classic in 1965 when a lone MGB finished second in class. The cars ran very well until engine-related technical problems caused their withdrawal.  However, 2002 is expected to be even more successful.

CMS are proud to be associated with this programme, running the Team in 2001 and 2002.  Click on this Events links to find out where the cars ran, here for technical information on the car and here for a history of MG in racing.
