Quotable Quotes

Pre event

Stephen Watson - Driver
"Its great to be in Australia and to drive on the ex-GP Adelaide circuit.   I enjoy the war climate but hope that it doesn't get too hot for the race on Sunday.  The Viper is not the coolest of cars...  It is quite a different experience racing over the festive season, with a great atmosphere in the paddock.  I am sure it will be a very enjoyable weekend."

Hugh Chamberlain - Team Principal
"Adelaide has spent a very great deal of time preparing for the race.  This is obvious from the quality of the circuit, pit and paddock area.  All our team have been treated extremely well and are being made welcome wherever we go.  I see no reason why the race should not follow all this hard work and be a great success.  We are looking forward to it."

Ray Lintott - Driver
"It's great to be back with the Chamberlain team, racing at Adelaide.  As an Australian gentleman-driver, its particularly pleasing to race with such a team in an Australian event after successfully racing with the same team at the Daytona 1998 event.  Whilst I have raced on the Adelaide circuit on two previous occasions in touring cars, my two co-drivers have more current knowledge and experience of the Viper.  But we'll work as a team and assist each other.  Its going to be a good weekend."

Post Qualifying

Stephen Watson - Driver
"This is the closest we have been to the Oreca factory cars all season.  I honestly believe I could have pipped Belloc to 2nd on my last lap but I made a mistake into the last corner.  Jack Cunningham awarded me an aviation license after my 'flying' exhibition over the curbs.  This circuit is mega."

Post Race

Stephen Watson - Driver
"Team did an excellent job and the car did not miss a beat for the entire race, apart from an old tosser (who happens to be my father) who left his visor up at a refueling stop, for which we got a 'stop and go' penalty.  The temperatures in the cockpit were very high which made the longer stints quite difficult.  We kept the car off the walls and brought it home in 3rd place, the best result we could realistically hope for."
