Events in 1999

In 1999 Chamberlain Motorsport will race principally in the FIA GT Championship, enter the two most prestigious 24 hour races, at Daytona on January 28/31,1999 and at Le Mans on June 12/13 and also compete in most events of the Spanish GT series.

In addition we shall probably appear at:

-    one or more of the British or French series
-    one or more of the American Le Mans series
-    and one or more races in Japan

FIA GT logo

The FIA GT Championship is for GT cars; genuine high performance, road going, motor cars.  They run to the same specification, varying only in that heavier cars will be allowed more power.

The contenders are Chrysler Viper GTS-R, Porsche 911 GT2, Marcos Mantara, Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Corvette, Lotus Esprit and others.

There are ten races in the Championship as below, one of 1000 km and nine of 500 km length.  As mentioned above, this is our principal racing series.

SPANISH GT SERIES

The Spanish GT Championship takes place in Spain and Portugal at some of the finest circuits in the world.  The Portuguese race is held at one of the world's most unsual circuits, Vila do Conde.  Our participation in the series is in conjunction with Chrysler-Iberia.

The American Le Mans Series (ALMS) is comprised of two different types of racing cars divided into five separate classes. The Prototype category features open cockpit prototype World Sports Cars (WSC) and Le Mans Prototypes (LMP), as well as Grand Touring (GT) formerly known as GT3.  Both classes feature purpose-built racing cars with an emphasis on spectator car identification.  There are eight races in the ALMS series as shown below:
