Brief Synopsis of events
(official) - Qualifying & Race 1
Qualifying for the Barcelona rounds of the Spanish GT Championship at the Circuit de Catalunya was problematic for the Chamberlain Motorsport Viper.  Luis Perez Sala just could not come to terms with the set-up and Ni Amorim had a caliper bracket failure.  Despite the problems Ni gained an eighth place start and a late banzai lap from Luis, during which we believe he kept his eyes shut, produced a creditable front row start position.

Race day was wet, or to be more precise race morning was very wet.  Ni starting from his eight place, finished the first lap in third and he took only a further three laps to take the lead.

The car was obviously very good in the wet as he had no problem in increasing his lead to 20 seconds at the pit stop. A further 10 seconds was gained during the stop but 30 seconds became only 3 when the officials called Luis back to the pit lane for a stop-go penalty - he had exceeded the speed limit on his way out of the pits and had lost all the advantage built up.  However he managed to stay ahead of his hard challenging adversary Carlos Palau who finished the same 3 seconds back some 14 laps later.  Everyone was very relieved that Luis had recovered from the error and we had another Spanish GT Championship win.

Brief Synopsis of events
(official) - Race 2
The second race started by being the nightmare Team Managers hate.  Do we gamble on no more rain or stay with wets?  The call was for slicks and Luis did two exploratory laps before going to the grid reporting that slicks it had to be, but it was very slippery still. The start was simple with the Marcos with Cor Euser at the wheel disappearing ahead just as Ni had in the first race, this time leaving Carlos Palau and Luis struggling in its wake.

By the time of the pit stops Luis was some 10 seconds back from the Mustang and 25 seconds behind the Marcos, but another excellent stop reduced the deficit to only 5 seconds behind the Mustang.  The Marcos had its second driver, Buurman on board, who was no match for Ni Amorim.  Another win was definitely there for the taking.

Unfortunately Ni became over-exuberant and clouted a kerb with the underside of the car and removed the crank sensor resulting in the car stopping with 9 laps to go.
