Brief Synopsis of events
(official)
The Chamberlain Motorsport Team are at it again!

Last time at the FIA GT Championship race at Zolder the Viper GTS-R of Amorim and Seiler finished on the podium for the first time this year. They did it again in Germany by finishing third to the Oreca Vipers of Olivier Beretta and Karl Wendlinger and Marc Duez and Jean-Philippe Belloc. A mere 2.5 second back after 3 hours of racing was the sister car of Christian Vann and Christian Glasel.

All weekend the beautifully turned out Chamberlain cars had been competitive. It did not matter whether it was warm or cold, dry or wet, whether the session was untimed or qualifying, always the blue and white Vipers were on the pace.

The Friday untimed sessions showed that the drivers and team were really on top form and qualifying proved it. The cars were fourth and fifth on the starting grid.

Toni Seiler started Car 18 and Christian Glasel No. 19 in hot and humid conditions. The ex-Roock Porsche of Le Mans-winner Stephane Ortelli led from pole position and set a furious pace with Beretta for Oreca and Vosse for GLPK Racing following with the Chamberlain Motorsport cars being more circumspect, lying 7th and 8th.

The Mini Grand Prix at the front subsided at about 1 hour duration when firstly the Vosse car expired with gear-box failure and then the Konrad Porsche of Franz Konrad and Bob Wollek slowed with electrical problems.

After the first round of pit stops were completed, the race settled into a more familiar pattern with the Oreca Vipers and the Ortelli Porsche battling for the lead. However, our heroes were moving up the leader board. Amorim in Car 18 and Vann in Car 19 put together an excellent hours driving with regular laps all in the low 1.30's. It was without doubt the best session that Christian Vann has driven all year. We somehow expect Amorim to be quick but Christian was at last showing the talent we know he possesses. Lap after lap they circulated until, due to their relentless pace, the cars moved up to 4th and 5th place at 2 hours.

Then there was a fantastic last hour. After the final stops, Glasel just beat Seiler out of the pits and the Chamberlain cars were nose to tail. Ten laps later and the Ortelli Porsche ground to a halt and the pair were in 3rd and 4th. Seiler took the 3rd place by diving through on the inside going into turn one only for Glasel to return the compliment 15 laps later. 10 laps to go and Glasel was still 3rd but Seiler forced his way past in the infield and Glasel (wisely) decided not to risk a lunge for the podium place. 3rd for Seiler/Amorim and 4th for Glasel/Vann was a really tremendous result for the team and some wonderful television for the viewers.

Donington could be fun!
