Car Number 18 was
running in 5th place on lap 19 when it was forced into the gravel trap at the first corner
by one of the Lister cars, frustrated at being kept at bay by Ni Amorim. Car Number 19 (Glasel/Vann) decided to attempt a one stop strategy for the race. Glasel started in 12th position but by 1 hr 30 mins had managed to pull the car up to as high as 4th position before handing over to Vann. After the result of the field's stops, Car 19 settled down in 5th position for much of the last period. However, fuel calculations showed that the car would probably not complete the race without a 'splash and dash'. With about 15 minutes to go, the car came in but suffered a fuel delivery problem which took 7 minutes to sort out. The car finished in 12th position. |
